FAVOURS OF THE MUSE |
Henri Amlani This is a work long in the making. The text comprises a short novel and a collection of poems which the author has created over the past fourteen years. The story appeals to the poet and the author within us all. It crosses the bounds of the plainly normal to the supernatural as it recounts the tale of a young poet who, one tragic night, accidentally and unknowingly awakens the spirit of the muse itself. Tragedy after tragedy is inflicted upon the poet by the unseen muse which delights in the beauty and heart-rending appeal of the poet's verses, inspired as they are by these events. One hundred new sonnets, seemingly from a past age, is the intriguing outcome.
