Thoughts and theories for a new century John Evans This is a sequel to the author's book Mind, Body and Electromagnetism first published in 1985. The world has moved on since then, and much that was thought to be on the fringe, or even heretical, is now coming into mainstream science and technology. The earlier part of the book reviews some important new developments in physics and biology, particularly in bioelectromagnetism, the subject that the author has helped to define and develop, and bring to public notice. The remainder is an adventure of ideas, from Darwinism and freewill, to memory and miracles. There are new insights into the life and work of Nikola Tesla, and thoughtful consideration is given to the psychical research of some of our most distinguished physicists a century ago. If the previous book was a little too specialist for some, the informal and personal style of this one should make the author's views accessible to most. Indifferent to fashionable opinion, he challenges many biochemical assumptions, and looks forward to radical changes in medical practice. At heart, the overall message is gentle and reassuring, and always reasonable. 200 pages 20 line drawings/photos |
